This was an amazing shoot! I was very excited when Kerah and Laura were on board with my first attempt to photograph a newborn at my home studio in Canton Michigan. Up to this point I have been traveling to clients homes. We shot for five hours (typical newborn shoots last around 3), it was a great time and I took away a lot to be more successful shooting out of my home studio.
A big thank you to Kerah and Laura for their patience, newborn shoots take time and when you have amazing parents to work with you will get the shots! I really love that Laura brought her custom made African wrap she wore around her waist on her wedding day.
The wrap is featured in the shot below wrapped around Jayden.
I love and appreciate when parents add sentimental props to their shoot, that's when I can really personalize it for them. I work very hard to customize each shoot for each family; I plan days in advance, research shot ideas, put together a shot list and gather props to personalize this moment for them. I knew right away that Kerah & Laura were just as into this as I was and I love collaborating with people like this.
Jayden is an amazing and beautiful baby girl and will soon be off to meet her fathers family in Africa! I feel very honored to have shared this time and experience with the Kirangi family and I wish them the best in all they do and their continue work for Redeeming Africa's Hope (RAH) which Laura is the CEO & Founder www.iamrah.org
